Vox Pop for Indie

Vox Pop Research Video

Before the summer holidays we conducted a variety of vox pops among our peers at school to
ascertain the perception of indie music. We interviewed people between the ages of 11 and 17 to see
what they thought was good about indie and what wasn't so good.

Identified conventions:
  • Bright colours
  • Natural imagery
  • People in meadows ("probably high")
  • Flowers and bees
  • Acoustic instruments such as pianos and guitar
What wasn't liked about indie:
  • Some bands are "a bit odd"
  • Hard to get band recognition
  • Music is often very similar and repetitive so it begins to sound the same (unoriginal)
  • "Too much of a particular genre"
We believe these complaints will help us in our music video and we will take them all inot account,
we will know what to avoid and what to add. We aim to make is sound fairly unique and add plenty
of nature, fields, flowers etc.
